Designed for heavy loads. Built for reliable operation.

Employee and company car park for Stadtwerke Bonn.

Bonn-Netz GmbH has built a car park for Stadtwerke Bonn on its premises, which can accommodate the entire municipal vehicle fleet, including cars, service vehicles and vans. The building has been designed with intensive operational use in mind, featuring clearly marked routes, reliable technology, and a concept that anticipates future requirements. Charging infrastructure and energy efficiency are therefore not an afterthought but are integrated from the outset. Functional. Digital. Climate-friendly.

Heavy loads and different vehicle types.

The structural design was based on the requirement of 363 parking spaces across eight levels, 45 of which are reserved for transport vehicles. Increased load ratings and higher construction heights on the lower levels provide additional capacity, enabling vehicles with superstructures to be parked safely and comfortably. Despite the limited space available at the Karlstraße site, modular construction enabled cost-effective implementation. Requirements such as fire brigade access, lighting and drainage were incorporated into the initial plans.

Well-thought-out energy concept.

The building is fully prepared for the electrification of the vehicle fleet. A photovoltaic system has been installed on the roof and façade, supplying renewable energy for the charging infrastructure and building technology. This electricity is fed directly into the municipal utility company’s internal grid, reducing emissions and strengthening self-sufficiency. Close coordination with Stadtwerke Bonn’s specialist departments was crucial in ensuring that the structural design, energy supply and building services were conceived as an integrated system. This approach goes beyond traditional car park design.

Safe, low-maintenance and flexible operation.

In addition to technological aspects, user-friendliness was a key focus. Light-coloured surfaces, good visibility and uniform LED lighting facilitate orientation and improve safety. Robust materials, low-maintenance components and energy-efficient building technology ensure economical operation for many years to come. Meanwhile, the car park’s modular design allows it to adapt as the vehicle fleet evolves, whether that be through expanding the charging infrastructure or changing the intended use.

A building block of modern urban mobility.

The project demonstrates how functional requirements, technical precision and sustainable solutions can be combined to prepare for the mobility needs of the future. This establishes the Karlstraße depot as an active component of modern urban mobility, setting an example for forward-thinking construction in the public context.
