Future-proofed and strategically located

Heathrow Airport MSCP: staff parking with potential for vertical expansion

Growing demand for staff parking at Heathrow Airport led to the development of a multi-storey car park built for the Aurora Group. Completed in 2017, this car park provides 1,380 parking bays over six levels with an option to add three additional levels. Primarily a staff car park for British Airways and Gate Gourmet, the facility showcases Huber Parking’s expertise as a main contractor, delivering a turnkey project with site supervision and a dedicated project management team.

Exceptional engineering

State-of-the-art construction above Transport for London tunnels

The car park is strategically located on the Heathrow Airport site, close to Terminal 4, making stakeholder coordination essential to the project’s success. The site is located above both the Piccadilly Line and the Heathrow Express Tunnel (HAL), requiring a unique construction solution. Huber Parking used shallow pad foundations, supported by finite element modelling techniques, which assured stakeholders of the suitability of the design. The tunnels below were fitted with monitoring equipment to track any movement during construction. Three staircases are fitted with fire-resistant steel doors with vision panels that are colour-coded to match the colour scheme of the protective waterproof coating on the parking decks while a lift completes the comfort features of this MSCP. Curtain wall windows in the main staircase provide natural daylight and perforated powder coated steel cladding strips meet ventilation requirements.

Safe and secure parking

CCTV surveillance and LED lighting increase user comfort

Safety features include manual fire and evacuation call points on each level. This is complemented by a high-tech illumination system that reduces energy consumption to 15% of maximum light output where possible through automatic dimming. This system integrates daylight control and timers to increase efficiency. Other facilities include a comfortably equipped office for the car park attendant.
