Innovative façade solution for biodiversity

The impressive living wall, which covers part of the car park façade, improves air quality, reduces noise and creates a habitat for various plant and animal species. With 890 bio panels and over 14,220 plants adapted to the local climate, the wall contributes to environmental sustainability. It blends in with its surroundings and provides an ideal backdrop for trees and vegetation in the neighbourhood. The hydroponic system is efficiently maintained by a fully automated, remote-controlled irrigation system.

Horizontal wood louvres naturalise the structure and soften the lines. The Corten-mesh panels provide natural ventilation of the car park. The different features of the façade were specially selected to increase illumination levels and natural light in the building.

“The opening of the car park is a great milestone in the transformation of this key project. It will provide essential parking and will help boost the local economy.”

Fokus

Safety and comfort

Generously dimensioned parking bays ensure convenient parking. A sophisticated wayfinding and vehicle counting system optimises traffic flow. Two staircases, one with a spacious 14-person lift, provide access to the car park. Security measures include 24-hour CCTV surveillance, intruder alarms and an access control system. The latter includes barriers, doors and a roller shutter. Everything is remotely controlled, networked and meets the Council’s policy requirements.

Thanks to these criteria, the car park has been awarded Park Mark status, a national quality mark for UK car parks with low crime rates and high safety standards.
