"I have always perceived Huber Parking as a very innovative company."
Leon is BIM Manager and BIM Coordinator. This means that he is responsible for the entire project planning across all service phases of the HOAI – be it in the design, approval or implementation planning. At the same time, Leon coordinates the specialist planners (including external ones) and takes care of the ongoing implementation of the BIM method within the team and company. To do this, he must always be up to date with new approaches in order to check how project planning in the company can be further optimised. “You need to have a digital affinity because it’s a very fast-moving topic and is basically still in its infancy. You always have to be up to date and enjoy familiarising yourself with new software solutions, trying out new tools and teaching yourself something.”
It all started for Leon with a dual study programme: parallel to his bachelor’s degree, he trained as a draughtsman at Huber Parking and then stayed on as a working student to do his master’s degree at the same time. “I have always perceived Huber Parking as a very innovative company. I also had personal contact with the company through my father. So I came here directly in 2015 and quickly realised how much support there is. You can approach all your colleagues during your studies and they always have an open ear and support you wherever they can.” Since graduating (Bachelor 2019, Master 2021), Leon has been permanently employed at Huber Parking.
Career
"In my opinion, that's what makes Huber Parking so special: this collegial, not to say informal, working atmosphere, this team spirit and the way we always treat each other as equals."
The focus on BIM was there from the outset, partly because Huber Parking wanted and still wants to drive this topic forward. “BIM is of course a flagship for us and also makes us interesting as a progressive employer. But more important than this labelling is making our own processes as efficient as possible with the help of BIM.” Huber Parking is currently going as far as 3D when it comes to BIM, and the interdisciplinary exchange works almost seamlessly – even with external service providers. With regard to further expansion stages, Leon and his colleagues always assess very carefully in advance what substantial benefits this can bring for all those involved.
This is usually done in Rheinbrohl, as everything to do with BIM is centralised in the planning department at the headquarters. Leon then works together with the other colleagues from the UK, which directly promotes the transfer of expertise. “In my opinion, that’s what makes Huber Parking so special: this collegial, not to say familiar, working atmosphere, this team spirit and the way we always treat each other as equals. Basically, it feels like a start-up mentality – except that Huber Parking has of course long had the experience and security of a solid company. A clear win-win situation.” Incidentally, the same applies to the combination of Leon and Huber Parking.
