The new Elsässer Platz car park

The new Elsässer Platz car park is located in the heart of Wiesbaden’s Westend, surrounded by lively residential areas and major transport hubs. Technology and sustainability combined.

With the completion of the new multi-storey car park, the city of Wiesbaden is taking an important step towards sustainable urban development. The project, which was completed in 2024, provides space for 429 cars, including 8 fast-chargers, 13 spaces for people with disabilities, 12 spaces for women and 17 spaces for parents with children. At the same time, it creates space for the redevelopment of Elsässer Platz into a greener and more liveable neighbourhood centre.

"Because urban space is limited, we need smart solutions: parking spaces are stacked in the car park and Elsässer Platz is being landscaped. Wiesbaden is investing in a liveable, climate-friendly residential environment."

The car park boasts modern facilities and sustainable construction. With a complete e-charging infrastructure, including eight fast-charging points and a photovoltaic system on the roof, it is set to become a central component of Wiesbaden’s strategy for low-emission mobility. In addition, the integration of car-sharing spaces and the future expansion of bicycle parking facilities offer innovative alternatives to private car ownership.

Sophisticated and efficient implementation.

The split-level system used makes the traffic layout compact and space-saving. The main staircase is equipped with a lift and provides barrier-free access. Thanks to an innovative design that takes the water table into account, the building could be constructed without additional earthworks. Modern technology, environmental design and urban development go hand in hand.

"The focus of the change is to improve the quality of life for residents in the neighbourhood. The loss of parking spaces will be largely offset by the neighbourhood car park. This will particularly benefit those residents who have rented one of the long term parking spaces and can now park their car safely without having to search for a space."

Conclusion:

With its multifunctional use, the project is more than just a car park: it creates space for modern living, new sports facilities and urban green spaces, while at the same time meeting the need for mobility. These measures underline the city of Wiesbaden’s commitment to sustainable and future-oriented urban development.
